'They fear the women's power to change' 2019-02-04 13:34:35   DİYARBAKIR- HDP Executive Suzan İşbilen who stated that the detentions and arrests of women politicians and candidates have increased lately, said the system is afraid of the women's power to change.   Operations against People's Democratic Party (HDP) executives and members are increasing day by day. While news are coming everyday about these operations, 22 executives and municipality candidates most of which are women were taken under custody in Şırnak.   The fact that most of the people taken under custody are women attracts attention.   HDP Diyarbakır District Executive Suzan İşbilen made assessments about these operations.   İşbilen who draws attention to the fact that women are knowingly being targeted before March 31 local elections, said: " There are municipality candidates, provincial and district co-chairs amongst the HDP members who were taken under costody. And it will continue because AKP have never recognized the will of the women in their policies. Therefore they are trying to frustrate the women with operations and arrests. The fact that the numbers of the arrests of women are increasing is attention-grabbing and not a coincidence. 150 people were taken under custody on October 9, 2018. 70 percent of it was women. This shows the  point where the struggle of women have come. They are afraid of women's power to change things."   'PRISONS ARE FILLED WITH WOMEN AND CHILDREN'   İşbilen who stated that there are pregnant or nursing women arrested, said: "The children growing inside prisons have climaxed lately. They make it look as if this is normal. This is the first time in history that prisons are filled with women and children."   'THEY GIVE A MESSAGE TO WOMEN'   İşbilen who underlined that the mobbing policies will not give any results, said: " They are giving a message to women and that is 'You have to make do with what we give to you or the only place you are going is prison'. İşbilen said women decided that they will not make do with their boundries and they chose to resist.
