The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), which implements the co-presidency system in the administration levels, is preparing the local elections on March 31 with a co-chaired system.   Halide Türkoğlu, Vice-President of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), spoke to Mezopotamya Agency (MA) about the importance of the co-chaired system, which is considered as an achievement for women, and how to implement it.   Stating that the co-chair system is an intervention against the bureaucratic structure of the state and the institutionalizations that the male-dominated mentality tries to establish itself, Türkoğlu said that this system is a model that inspires women's struggle in the world. Despite the law stating that they can't implement the co-presidency system, Türkoğlu said: "The co-chair system provides the voluntary representation of the woman; it is of vital importance for the transformation and democratization of the society.  We will continue this system in the next period as well, In spite of the laws dictating we can't."   Türkoğlu who stated that co-chair system is a win for women's struggle, said: " In the co-chair system we women first demand equality. At the same time, we implement the formation and institutionalization of equality. In other words, it is a matter of status rather than an equal citizenship issue at the mercy of men or states."
