Her two sons, sister and son in law on hunger strike 2019-04-26 14:13:55 DİYARBAKIR - Safiye Deviren whose both sons, sister and son in law are on hunger strike is concerned about the government not taking action regarding the hunger strikes. Deviren who stated that her relatives are demanding their rights, said: 'No one can blame someone because they are demanding their rights. The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven and the political prisoners initiated demanding the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues. Safiye Deviren's tow sons, brother and son in law are amongst them.    Safiye Deviren whose 4 family members are on hunger strike said her husband had to leave the country because of the oppression and that she lives her life concerned every minute.     Deviren who visited her elder son Serdar Deviren on April 15, said: "We were face to face with extraordinary security measures during the visitation. I was strip searched. I told them I had nothing on me.The guard scolded me and said 'Speak Turkish'. I told him that I did not speak Turkish. They searched me from my shoes to my hair.When I was finally able to see my son, he told me that their ward have been searched and their belongings were scattered all around.He lost so much weight, his face turned yellow and eyes diminished."     Deviren who stated that she respects the decision of her sons, said: "My son Süleyman was going to school in Bitlis. He was a senior in Nursing school.He was arrested on Mothers Day. It was my mothers day present from the government. He is being kept at Hilvan Prison for 3 years now. He is on hunger strike since March 1.I saw him 2 weeks ago. He losyt 10 kilograms. We don't know how long this will take. Our children are demanding their own rights. People can not be accused of demanding their rights. They will continue until their demand is met."
