Mother of a prisoner: Wounded can fall asleep, hungry can't 2019-04-27 09:54:48 ADANA- Zekiye Atalay, mother of Aydın Atalay who is on hunger strike for 58 days in Tekirdağ Prison, said: "The wounded can fall asleep, the hungry can't. No more deaths!" and demanded the demand of her children to be met.   Aydın Atalay is on hunger strike for 58 days in Tekirdağ Type F Closed Prison demanding the termination of the isolation. Atalay was taken under custody in Şırnak, Uludere in 1996 and was tortured for 2 months under custody. Atalay then was referred to court and sentenced to 36 years of imprisonment. Atalay who is incarcerated for 23 years now, is on hunger strike demanding the termination of the isolation.     Mother Zekiye Atalay stated that her son who calls her every saturday, lost 10 kilos and his blood pressure is too high all the time. Mother Atalay who wants the prisoner families to be the voice of their children on hunger strike, said her son told him 'Don't leave us alone. We will not end our hunger strike before our demands are met."     Mother Atalay who stated that her son participated in every hunger strike action in the prisons for all these years, said his son determindly demands the removal of the isolation. Mother Atalay who addresses the Minister of Justice and his wife, said: "She is a mother too. She must understand how we feel. This tears our hearts out. They should take action at once. The wounded can fall asleep, the hungry can't. No more deaths! All we want is that their demands to be met."
