Prisoner on hunger strike for 64 days: Be proud of us 2019-05-03 11:20:46 HAKKARİ -  Ayten Akdağ, mother of Reber Akdağ who is on hunger strike for 64 days in Van High Security Prison, said: "My son told me that their morale is high and that we should be proud of them. We are proud of them." Reber Akdağ who is on hunger strike for 64 days in Van High Security Prison was accused of 'being a member of an illegal organization' and was sentenced to 7 years 6 months of jail time.   Mother Akdağ said: "Everyone knows why my son is on hunger strike. We want this isolation to be removed. I salut Leyla Güven who initiated this action. I salut every last one of the 7 thousand hunger strikers."    Akdağ who told about his conversation with his son, said: "He said 'Mom, our morale is high, be proud of us. We don't have any problems. We will not give up our hunger strike until the isolation is removed' , and we are proud of them, but I am a mother, and even though I support their hunger strike, I can not sleep thinking that they are hungry."   Akdağ who stated that she supports the decision of Leyla Güven, said: "As the women of Hakkari, we stand with Leyla Güven. We are what our children are. We will join the hunger strike unless a solution is found. God help them. Our only wish is this isolation on the Kurdish community to end.  We want to be in peace.  We will be standing with our children to our last breath, we will never leave them alone. "
