Mother battered by the police: I will not wait for my son to die 2019-05-03 13:29:24 DİYARBAKIR - Aysel Tufan, mother of a hunger striker prisoner who was battered by the police and as a result hozpitalized, underlining that they will continue their demonstrations with determination, and said: "I am the mother of the insurgents. Mothers will bring peace. I am not afraid. I will not wait for my son to die. "   The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co chair Leyla Güven initiated continues on its 177th day. The hunger strikes began after her on December 16, spreaded to all prisons on March 1. 15 prisoners from 4 different prisons turned their hunger strike action to a death fast protesting the silence of the government.  HDP Deputies Tayip Temel and Murat Sarısaç joined the hunger strike HDP Diyarbakır Deputy Dersim Dağ started  on March 3 , on March 8. 15 prisoners turned their hunger strike action to a death fast protesting the silence of the authorities.   The mothers of the hunger striker prisoners are making demonstrations on a daily basis to draw attention to the hunger strikes. Mothers who are being prevented from even making a statement, are constantly subjected to police violence. Yesterday, mothers who wanted to make a press statement in Diyarbakır, Bağlar, Koşuyolu Park, was once again subjected to police attack. Mother Aysel Tufan , mother of Aziz Tufan who is on hunger strike in Diyarbakır Type D Prison since March 1, was hospitalized as a result. Democratic Districts Party (DBP) Co-chair Mehmet Arslan and the mothers of the prisoners visited her in hospital.    Tufan who spoke about the attack during the visit, said: "They hit me on my back, my arms. They dragged me on the floor. We resisted. We held our heads high. We will resist. Until we find a solution."   'I WILL NOT WAIT FOR MY SON TO DIE'   Tufan who stated that they will determindly continue their demonstrations, said: "I am the mother of the insurgents. Mothers will bring peace. I am not afraid. I will not wait for my son to die. The police told me that they will 'see me later'. I told them, I am here, I will be here. Because our children are hungry in there. They are dying. I don't accept that. Mothers are on the streets for 5 months now.  Hear our voices. Erdoğan should hear our voices. Minister of Justice should hear our voice. I will not wait for my son to die!"   Tufan made a criminal complaint about the police who battered her and gave her testimony in Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate.
