Journalist Kibriye Evren not released 2019-05-07 14:32:05 DÄ°YARBAKIR - The hearing about the journalist Kibriye Evren who is on hunger strike for 143 days was postponed. The 5th hearing of the case against Kibriye Evren was held today at Diyarbakır 5th Criminal Court. Evren did not attend the hearing while her attorneys and colleagues were ready at the hearing.   Prosecutor repeated his opinion about Evren to be sentenced to 20 years in prison for 'being a member of an illegal organization' and 'propaganda'.   Attorney Resul Tamur demanded that Evren makes her defence as to the accusations. Tamur, who wanted time for his defense of the matter, said that the journalists who were tried in the same case had been acquitted, and asked for the release of his client.   After the brief recess, the court decided to resume Evren's detention on the grounds of the nature of the crime, the status of the evidence, the suspicion of a strong crime  and postponed the next hearing to 18 July.
