Demand concerning stay of proceedings against Leyla Güven has been rejected 2019-05-29 14:43:08   DİYARBAKIR- In the case of Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy Leyla Guven who have been on a  200-day hunger strike against solitary confinement, the lawyers' request for the suspension of the trial within the scope of immunity was rejected by the court.   STAY OF PROCEEDINGS REJECTED   Lawyer Reyhan Yalçındağ, who had made the defense concerning Güven's file, demanded the suspension of the proceedings under Article 83 of the Constitution because Güven is a member of parliament. Yalçındağ demanded the abolition of the ban on foreign exit implemented within the scope of judicial control measures.   DEMANDS REJECTED   The court adjourned the hearing by rejecting the lawyers' request for the suspension of the proceedings and the lifting of the ban on foreign exit as a measure of judicial control.
