Duymak who lost her husband in the basements of Cizre, sentenced to 3 years 1 month of prison time 2019-06-29 11:56:41 ŞIRNAK - Lütfiye Duymak, wife of Mahmut Duymak who was  killed in the basements of Cizre that were set on fire during the curfews, was sentenced to 3 years 1 month and 15 days of prison sentence as a result of  witness statement. Lütfiye Duymak, mother of 5, one of which is 3 years old, was arrested by the court after 6 days of detention, and was released after a while when her attorneys appealed. An indictment was prepared later for Lütfiye Duymak, whose husband was burned to death in a basement in Cizre during the 79 day curfew, on December 14, 2015. Şırnak Chief Prosecutor's Office accused Duymak of 'assisting the organization intentionally and willingly, although not involved in the hierarchical structure within the organization'.     After the indictment adopted by the 1st Heavy Penal Court of Şırnak, the second hearing of the trial started the day before. Duymak's attorney Newroz Uysal was present at the hearing. The prosecution demanded her to be sentenced with the charge 'assisting the organization intentionally and willingly, although not involved in the hierarchical structure within the organization'due to the testimony of İlyas Kurt who surrendered at the Habur border gate.       Uysal said that they would apply to the Antep District Court of Justice for the decision to be reversed.
