Journalist Necla Demir Acquitted

	İSTANBUL - Journalist Necla Demir, the former grant holder of Gazete Karınca news website, has been acquitted of “repeatedly propagandizing for a terrorist organization”.

	 

	Having her final hearing at the İstanbul 33rd Heavy Penal Court, former grant holder of Gazete Karınca news website Necla Demir has been acquitted.

	 

	Journalist Demir was charged with "repeatedly propagandizing for a terrorist organization" due to the news and interviews published on the website during Turkey's military operation into Syria's Afrin.

	 

	In her first hearing in May, the prosecutor announced the opinion as to the accusations and demanded that Demir be penalized on the offense charged.

	 

	Necla Demir had her third and final hearing today (October 11). The court board has given its verdict by majority of votes and ruled that Necla Demir shall be acquitted of "repeatedly propagandizing for a terrorist organization".
