
Bakırköy Prison banned Kurdish newspaper stating it is in an 'undefinable language'

	ISTANBUL - Bakirkoy Women's Closed Prison Education Board has banned the delivery of many books and newspapers to prisoners. Prison Administration, which did not accept the terms 'Roboski Massacre' and that the 'Return to Life' operations to be defined as massacre, did not give the Xwebun newspaper to the prisoners stating that it is an 'undefinable language'.

	Bakırköy Women's Closed Criminal Execution Board Education Board Presidency signed scandal decisions in order not to deliver newspapers and books sent to prisoners. The reason of the decision taken in January 16, 2020 attracts attention. The article called 'We will not forgive the bombs of fascism that pukes bombs' about Roboski Massacre in New Democracy Newspaper issue 51 is stated to be the reason of the ban.&nbsp;

	Another article that was considered to be the reason of the ban is about the 'Return to Life' operations carried out in numerous prisons that killed 30 prisoners and injured hundreds. The decision states that the article praised the death fasts and shows the 'well -intentioned' operation as a massacre.

	One of the banned publications is the Xwebun Newspaper we sent to our reporter Sadiye Eser. The prison administration stated that because the newspaper is in Kurdish and that they could not understand what language it is, they can deliver the newspaper if Sadiye Eser has the newspaper translated by a certified translator.&nbsp;

	&nbsp;

	Although translating the publications is among the duties of the prison administration, the administration is trying to have the translation work done to the prisoners and trying to prevent the entry of the newspaper.&nbsp;
