Özpek: Government's will to fight is greater than their will to keep Turkey safe 2020-02-07 10:50:37   ANKARA - Political Scientist Assoc. Dr. Burak Bilgehan Özpek said: "The government's will to fight is greater than their will to keep Turkey safe. The actors that you support will turn back to you as a security threat after a while", regarding the tension in Idlib.   Tension rises for Idlib where the conflict increased. The Syrian regime is advancing to Idlib. Turkey continues military shipment to observation points and the border cities.  TOBB Economy and Technology University Lecturer Political Scientist Professor John Bilgehan Özpek evaluated the developments in Idlib and the rising tension between Turkey and Russia for Mesopotamia Agency (MA).   Özpek, pointing out that Turkey can intervene to Syria with the rising tension in Idlib, said: "The government's will to fight is greater than their will to keep Turkey safe. The actors that you support will turn back to you as a security threat after a while. Turkey has a profile that seeks war outside. It praises the war and builds their politics on war. That is the reason of the insistance on Idlib. Turkey's Syria policy produces continuous security problems.   Özpek underlining the fact that Turkey's Syria policy keeps Turkey in debt to one side at all times, said: "Turkey had to sign the Sochi Agreement because it entered Afrin. Turkey had to build such an asymmetric relationship with Russia because it entered Afrin. When you miscalculate everything, you have to pay the price for it somewhere."
