Gülşen, abused by his father: The police told me I must have misunderstood 2020-02-10 16:59:30 MERSİN – Mersin Women's Platform reacted to the release of S.D who abused his three daughters. One of the sisters, Hatice Gülşen said that the police whom she applied for a criminal complaint told her that she must have misinterpreted his father's behaviour.   Mersin Women's Platform reacted to the fact that a man called S.D was released after giving his statement to the police although he had been abusing his three daughters since they were children. The three sisters, their mothers and many women's organization represantatives attended the press release.     'HE THREATENED US AFTER HIS RELEASE'   HDP Mersin Provincial Co-chair Gülbahar Şofer who read the statement on behalf of the platform, stating that the abuse started many years ago, said the abuser were released due to the ineffective investigation. Şofer, who stated that S.D threatened his daughters to make them drop the charges, said: "In sexual abuse cases, the investigation should be carried out meticulously and effectively, and good conduct time and remission should not be granted to the abuser. We will not let this go. We will stand with the 3 sisters."   'YOU MUST HAVE MISINTERPETED YOUR FATHER'S BEHAVIOR'   Following Şofer, Hatice Gülşen, one of the sisters spoke. Gülşen stressed that she went to the police to file a criminal complaint and start the judicial process and the police did not help her. Gülşen, stating that she was also tortured by S.D, said: "I couldn't make sens of the way how our father touched us when we were children. Now I see it. When I told about this to my sisters years later, I saw that I was not the only one our father had been abusing. That man who should be behind bars after our denunciation, is walking free."   Mother Susi Akan, stating that both her life and her children's lives were ruined as a result of S.D's abuse, said: "We didn't deserve this. Neither my family nor the justice system supported us about this. We will fight until this abuser recieves the punishment he deserves."
