'We don't want Helin to die'

	İSTANBUL – Yurdagül Gümüş, companion of Helin Bölek who is on a death fast for 252 days for her demands to be met, gave information about the health status of Bölek and called on for solidarity.

	Helin Bölek is on a death fast with the demands of the removal of Grup Yorum's concert bans, the removal of their members from the red bulletin and the government to stop storming İdil Culture Center. Both Bölek and İbrahim Gökçek continuing the death fast in the Resistance House in Sarıyer are detoriorating. One of the volunteer companions of the Resistance House, Yurdagül Gümüş explained the health status of Bölek. 

	 

	Gümüş stating that Helin is suffering from fatigue lately, said she is no longer able to stand up because of the pain in her feet. Gümüş also said that Helin is suffering from muscle atrophy, said Helin experiences twitches in her body and internal organs. Stating that HElin is unable to meet her basic needs on her own, Gümüş said: "She was not able to get enough water and sugar for a long time because of her sensitivity which caused her immunity level to drop. She is now able to consume some of the water she needs, but she is still unable to consume the sugar enough to keep her stable. 

	 

	Gümüş said Helin is sometimes able to communicate with the people who comes to visit somedays and that they take her out for fresh air when she is feeling better. 'But' Gümüş says: "The same day she gets worse and start suffering from intense pain for hours. We are trying to soothe her pain with herbal teas and oils. We can't massage her. We have to watch her suffer.."

	 

	'THE RESISTANCE OF ALL ARTISTS'

	 

	Gümüş stating that music had been banned and musicians were subjected to tyranny through out the history, said Grup Yorum is one of the most important examples of this. Gümüş said: "This is the resistance of all peoples, all oppressed, everyone who has a problem with the system. We have to claim our beliefs our values and support this resistance. We don't want Helin to be martyred. We are doing all in our power to keep them alive. In order to do that, we are calling on to all intellectuals and artists for solidarity."
