Our reporter Idris Sayılğan arrested 2020-03-02 14:38:02 EDİRNE - Our reporter İdris Sayılğan who went to Edirne to follow up on the refugees passage to Greece, was arrested. Sayılğan was taken into custody filming the refugees with Naci Kaya on grounds that they had a traveling ban.  Kaya who is being held in Edirne Gendermerie Command, attended to his hearing via video conference system SEGBİS.   Kaya who was referred to court with prosecution's demand for arrest, was released by the court: However Kaya is still kept under custody.   Sayılğan who was referred to court with a request of arrest said: "I started to work in Mesopotamia Agency 1 month before I was released from prison. We were not in a remote area filming. I did not know it was a military zone. They detained us while we were filming the refugees. We would get permission if we knew it was a banned military zone. We were broadcasting live and conducting interviews.I was there to write a report not to to go Greece.There were other journalists taken into custody with us. They were all released. I request my release."   Following the defense of our reporter, the court arrested Sayılğan.  The court board stated that they made this decision based on the evidence at hand and that they would make an assessment if the news that they passed through the region were presented as evidence during the appeal.   Lawyers began preparations for appealing the decision. Our reporter who was arrested was sent to Edirne F Type Closed Prison.
