Sick prisoner Yılmaz: This might be our last phone call 2020-04-25 11:45:51 VAN - Sick Prisoner Ayhan Yılmaz who is being held in Van Type T Prison, said: "Prison conditions are far worse than bad. Treatment opportunities are limited. Nevermind the coronavirus, we can die from our chronic diseases. This might be our last phone call."  Ayhan Yılmaz, who has been detained in Van T Type Prison for more than two years, drew attention to the conditions he and his friends live in. İbrahim Yılmaz, father of Ayhan Yılmaz said his son who suffers from asthma and sleep apnea was short on breathe and coughing when they spoke on the phone. Father Yılmaz said: "My son told me that their treatment is not being done on time with the outbreak and their health problems was detoriorating day by day."   Father Yılmaz, telling about the phone call he made with his son, said: "He is suffering from asthma and sleep apnea for a long time. The prison doctors said he needed to be in treatment but no treatment was done. He had trouble speaking when we last spoke. He is coughing all the time and he is short of breathe. He said he is not doing well and that we should be ready for bad news."   Yılmaz, stating that his son told him that the violations of rights increase on a daily basis in prison and there was a lack of hygiene, said: "The new law on execusion is a way of torture. The sick prisoners are not being treated and left for dead. I am appealing to all NGO's in Turkey. We have to act now before prisons turn into mass graves."
