'They are trying to disable Bar Associations with investigations' 2020-04-30 12:14:33   MARDİN - Mardin Bar Associations, condemning the investigation against Ankara and Diyarbakır Bar Associations because of their critisizm against the Directorate of Religious Affairs statement, emphasized that the Bar Associations are wanted to be disabled with investigations.   Mardin Bar Association reacted to the investigation opened against Ankara and Diyarbakır Bar Associations that were targeted because of their critisizm against Ali Erbaş, the President of the Directorate of Religious Affairs with a statement.    In the statement emphasizing that national and international legislation that guarantees freedom of thought and expression, it is stated that the statements that makes a community or an individual an object of hate for reasons such as religion, language, race, class, political belonging and sexual orientation will not be accepted. The statement also said: "Likewise, contrary to what is claimed, the statements made by the Ankara and Diyarbakır bar associations that do not contain degrading religious values should be evaluated within the scope of freedom of thought and expression and within the obligation to defend human rights regulated by the law. For these reasons, we consider the investigation against the bar associationsas an intervention to the freedom of the bar associations is to pave the way to disable the bar associations and an intervention against the freedom of expression. For these reasons, we declare that we are in solidarity with Ankara and Diyarbakır Bar Associations."
