İSTANBUL - Drawing attention to the detoriorating health status of his son Aytaç Ünsal, his father Nihat Ünsal said: "A life is on the line. Hear my cries" and demanded a concrete step must be taken.

While imprisoned lawyer Ebru Timtik died on the 238th day of the death fast she started demanding 'fair trial', Aytaç Ünsal, another lawyer on death fast demanding the same thing continues the death fast. Aytaç Ünsal who has been on death fast for 211 days, is beyond critical condition. He is being held in the hospital despite the Forensic Medicine Institude report that says he must be released.

Father Nihat Ünsal who is glued to the hospital yard, waiting for her son, demanded a concrete step to be taken, emphasizing that his son is beyond critical condition. Stating that there is a doctor's report that his son's life is at risk, father Ünsal said: "The hospital conditions are worse than the prison. He has been here for 33 days now. Aytaç wants us to raise our voices. His mother can see him through a tiny window with gendermerie waiting beside her. There is no ventilation in his room. The light is constantly on."

THEY DON'T LET HIM SLEEP

Stating that soldiers are entering the room constantly, even through the night, father Ünsal said: "My son can't sleep because of the soldiers. He is taking a turn for the worse. He doesn't accept treatment. Why are they keeping a person in the hospital when he does not accept treatment?"

Father Ünsal said: "He suffers from pain in his arms and legs. He has bad sores. He can hardly walk. He will be where Ebru was in a very short time. HE won't be able to drink water or take sugar. SOmething must be done this week or we will lose him."

Calling out to the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Inter.or and all state officials, Ünsal said: "Do something. Let my 32 year old son live. Don't let him die. I want everyone to support us and hear our calls. Hear our cries. Let's keep Aytaç alive. Make a statement, say something. Killers are loose on the streets while my son is in his death bed. He is just 32. He is a lawyer for 6 years. He spent 3 of it in prison."

CALL TO THE SUPREME COURT

Noting that they are hopeful about the Supreme Court, Ünsal said: "The Supreme Court handled this file on June 1. We were told that they will make a decision in a month. Unfortunately, 45 days had passed before the judicial recess and no action was taken.  I think the Supreme Court was also intervened. The Supreme Court should not accept this intervention. The seat shouldn't be that important. There is a life on the line. My son and wife are staying in a cell in this hospital for 33 days. I have been waiting in front of this hospital for 33 days. I am 62 years old. I am desperate. I am calling on to everyone with a conscience. I am calling on to everyone who still has their humanitarian values to help us keep my son alive."
