Serhad region too celebrates the Newroz this year with the slogan 'Let's resist with the Newroz fire, let's liberate ourselves'. Besides Van, being the center of the celebrations, Newroz is being celebrated in 6 different cities. Freedom, national unity and isolation are the main focusses of the celebrations.

 

TATVAN 

 

One of the cities where Newroz is celebrated is the Tatvan district of Bitlis. People started to flock to the festival site early in the morning. People are singing and dancing the halay because music was banned due to coronavirus for some reason. People are wearing their colourful local clothes. People continue to flock to the festival site for the program that will start soon.

 

HAKKARİ

 

Thousands gathered at the festival site to celebrate the Newroz in Hakkari, coming from the neighboring villages and districts. The area filled with HDP flags is very colourful with the people wearing local clothes. HDP MPs Şevin Coşkun and Hasan Özgüneş are attending the festival where banners writing  "Unity and solidarity against oppression", "Youth are organizing, peace is winning" and "Newroz jiyan e", "Newroz yekîtî ye" and "Newroz pîroz be". 

 

The program will start soon with a minute of silence who fell in the struggle for democracy. Koma Çiya and Murat Demir will perform after the Newrox fire is lit.

 

YÜKSEKOVA

 

Yüksekova district of Hakkari is another place where celebrations are held. For the celebrations held in the New City Stadium, checkpoints were established at 3 different points. Entrances to the festival area started. While it is noteworthy that the majority of the people who come to the area are young people, the enthusiasm is growing in the celebrations where HDP flags fly.

 

Group Gölgedekiler and Rêzan Şirvan are expected to take the stage at the celebrations where HDP Hakkari Deputy Sait Dede and Silopi Municipality Co-mayor Adalet Fidan are speakers.

 

DOĞUBEYAZIT

 

Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı is also one of the centers where celebrations are held this year. Entrances to the area started. Many people from the surrounding villages and districts also participate in the celebrations. During the celebrations where the area is slowly filling up, the banners about Newroz drEw attention.

 

Citizens continue to come to the area for the celebrations where many women and men participate in local clothes.

 

HDP MP Abdullah Koç is expected to give a speech after the Newroz fire was lit.

 

AGRI, MUŞ

 

Newroz celebrations are expected to begin in Ağrı center and Muş after a while. Entrances to the area will start after a while in both centers.
