İSTANBUL - Protesting the detention of HDP's Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, BMG components called for the people to take the struggle to the streets.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu was forcibly taken into custody by the police who raided the Parliament at dawn on the 5th day of the Justice Watch, which he started after his status as a member of the parliament was stripped of. Gergerlioğlu, who was detained without being allowed to wear his clothes and perform prayers, was released after 6 hours at the police station. There was a public outcry to his detention and being dragged out of the parliament. United Fighting Forces (BMG) components said this was an attack to all peoples of Turkey in the person of Gergerlioğlu.

'TYRANNY DOESN'T HAVE THE POWER TO RULE'

Alınteri Represantative Mürüvet Küçük criticized the fact that Gergerlioğlu was taken into custody without gving him time to get dressed. Mentioning the events of the last few days like thw withdrawak from the İstanbul Convention and the law suit filed to close the HDP, Küçük said: "Gergerlioğlu was taken into custody with a police raid on the parliament, ignoring all social rules and criteria. Hundreds of police officers were at the corridors of the parliament, grabbing Gergerlioğlu. This is an indication of the fascist regime not caring about the solution or the social balances, doing whatever they desire."

Recalling the detention of DEP MPs at the parliament back in 1994, Küçük said: "There was a direct attack against the Kurdish people back then. Now there is a direct attack against both the Kurdish and the Turkish people. The government is trying to maintain its regime by explicitly intimidating the oppressed and the Kurdish people. The regime is on weaker ground even weaker than it was back in 1994. Losing its voter base in a deep economic and social crisis, the government thinks that they can rule the country with tyranny. But the tyranny doesn't have the power to rule. Their unease in the face of this growing social anger is an indication of that."

'IT IS THE TRADITION OF FASCISM'

Fighting Forces Platform Represantative Seher Dursun said: "The fact that Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu was detained by the police lurking in the corridors of the Parliament shows the limitless aggression of the government. This aggression is the tradition of fascism. This is not a simple, ordinary, process of stripping an MP of their status as a member of the parliament. It is part of the roadmap of a religious fascist, establishing a fascist dictatorship that freed itself from all kinds of obstacles."

THE ONLY WAY IS UNIFIED STRUGGLE

Partizan Represantative Sinem Özkan said what's happening is a continuation of the hostility against the Kurdish. Recalling that DTK Co-Chair Leyla Güven and HDP's Musa Farisoğulları was also hastily stripped of their statuses as MPs, Özkan said: "Today, the same thing is happening to Gergerlioğlu. Gergerlioğlu has an important representation for a wide range of people. He is a symbol of human rights, as well as the struggle of the Kurdish people and workers. The attack on Gergerlioğlu is a special attack against workers, laborers and the Kurdish people. We stand by Gergerlioğlu's struggle. He will continue on his way even though he is not a member of the parliament anymore. We will stand by him through this. We will unite against these systematic attacks of the state and will continue to shout out our fight and legitimacy on the streets."
