Police sat at the bench reserved for attorneys in Kobané Case

ANKARA - In the courtroom where the Kobané Case will be held, police officers sat at the benches reserved for attorneys while attorneys were not allowed in the court room on grounds that there is no room in the courtroom. Attorneys of HDP demanded all lawyers to be allowed in the room.
 
The first hearing of the Kobanê Trial, in which 108 people, 28 of whom are currently detained pending trial, including the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) former Co-Chairs Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş, will be held today at the Sincan Prison Campus by the Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court. 
 
The 108 people are accused of 'disrupting the unity of the state' and 'attempted murder' along with other trumped up charges.
 
Journalists, parliamentarians, lawyers and international delegations are following the hearing in the court room. Visitors and the relatives of the defendants were taken to a different courtroom. Intensive security measures drew attention both inside and outside the hall. After reaching a certain number, entry to the courtroom was banned.
 
ATTORNEYS NOT ALLOWED IN THE COURT ROOM
 
Nearly 100 defense lawyers were not allowed into the hall on grounds that there was no room inside. While riot police were placed in the benches reserved for the attorneys, the attorneys are kept waiting outside the hall. The meeting that the lawyers wanted to have with the court president on the subject was rejected.
 
The arrested politicians who wanted to attend the hearing have not been allowed in the courtroom yet.
 
It drew attention that the lawyers attended the trial with the files in their hands. According to the information obtained, detained politicians will attend the hearing via SEGBIS (Audio and Video Information System) from the prison they are held. The detained politicians to attend the hearing via SEGBİS  are as follows: HDP former Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, HDP former Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ, Ali Ürküt, Cihan Erdal, Nazmi Gür, Ayhan Bilgen and Emine Ayna
 
Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk, who was replaced by a trustee appeared at the SEGBIS system from Mardin 3rd High Criminal Court. İmralı delegation member Sırrı Süreyya Önder appeared at SEGBIS from İstanbul 33rd High Criminal Court.
 
The names of the politicians detained within the scope of the Kobané Case are as follows: Former HDP Co-Chairs Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş, DBP former Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel, Diyarbakır former Co-Mayor Gültan Kışanak, HDP former MP Aysel Tuğluk, former DBP Co-Chair Emine Ayna, Kars Municipality Co-Mayor Ayhan Bilgen, former MPs Ayla Akat Ata, Beyza Üstün, İbrahim Binici, HDP former Party Spokesperson Günay Kubilay, HDP new term Central Executive Board (MYK) member Alp Altınörs, HDP Foreign Relations Commission member Nazmi Gür, HDP Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) member Ali Ürküt, HDP former treasurer Zeki Çelik, HDP former MYK (Central Executive Board) members Bülent Barmaksız, Can Memiş, Cihan Erdal, İsmail Şengül, Mesut Bağcık, Bircan Yorulmaz, Dilek Yağ, Pervin Oduncu, Berfin Özgü Köse, Ayşe Yağcı, Zeynep Ölbeci, and HDP former MYK member Nezir Çakan and Meryem Adıbelli.
