VAN - Calling for participation in the Peace Rally, TJA Activist Aynur Sarıca said that they are fighting for peace and freedom against the darkness of war and chaos fueled by the male-dominated mentality.

Van is preparing for the Peace Rally to be held on September 1. The rally organized by the Van Labor and Democracy Platform with the slogan "Peace makes life", will be at Musa Anter Park. Group Abdal, Murad Demir, Aryen Art Group and Nurcan Değirmenci will take the stage at the rally, where Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Pervin Buldan will attend as speakers. The application of the organizing committee to the governor's office for the rally was answered.

Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) activist Aynur Sarıca talked about the preparations in the city and the importance of the day.

STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM

Stating that one of the most important issues to draw attention to on September 1, World Peace Day is the deepening isolation against the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Sarıca said, “The isolation that started in İmralı has now spreaded to all prisons. Today, isolation is applied not only to the prisoners, but to the entire society. The ban on demonstrations and events that has been going on for 5 years in Van is a clear indication of this. You cannot object to anything using your democratic rights. They want to be obeyed. This is also isolation."

Stating that women are among the largest groups in Turkey that are isolated from the society, Sarıca said that men are isolating women by taking power from the dominant system. Stating that women are fighting against this policy, Sarıca said, “We will make our existence and our will accepted as a result of this struggle. Women, especially our mothers, are striving and fighting for freedom.”

SOUND OF PEACE

Stating that they called for participation in the rally by going door to door, Sarıca said, “We are visiting the people house by house, neighborhood by neighborhood, district by district. When we say 'peace against war', our mothers and women come to mind first. The reason for this is because women are resisting against the male-dominated mentality that acts with dirty policies. Therefore, our call is primarily to women. We call on all women of color, especially our mothers, to raise their voice of peace against war even more than ever.”
