NEWS CENTER - Protesting the silence of the German government for the use of chemicals in the Federated Kurdistan Region of Turkey, KON-MED launched a petition.

The Confederation of Kurdistani Societies in Germany (KON-MED) launched a petition against the use of chemicals in Turkey's operations in the Federated Kurdistan Region and Germany's silence. In the statement made by KON-MED on the subject, Kurds living in Germany were called on to protest chemical attacks, and the German government was also called to investigate the allegations.

'WAR CRIMES HAVE BEEN COMMITTED'

Emphasizing that Turkey occupied the Federated Kurdistan Region, the statement noted that serious war crimes were committed with chemical weapons used against the Kurdish people. Reminding that with these attacks, Turkey violated the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which prohibits the use of chemical weapons, the statement said, “According to the information from Southern Kurdistan, it is said that poison gas has been used 300 times in the last 6 months. Many Kurdistanis were killed because of these chemical attacks. Last week, 5 guerrillas were killed using poison gas."

'TAKE ACTION NOW'

In the statement, which is stated that NATO and the EU's stance is embarrassing, the statement said, "When it is the Kurds that are being killed, everyone is comfortable with being silent. In line with all this information, non-governmental organizations must urgently put pressure on their own governments and ensure that they take action against the chemical attacks of the invading Turkish state.”

LIST OF DEMANDS

In the statement, which stated that the German government should put an end to its criminalization and Turkey-based policies against the Kurds, the following demands were made from the German government:
“*We request the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to investigate the above allegations.

*We openly condemn Turkey's illegal chemical attacks and end its complicity with the Erdogan regime, and again demand that economic and political sanctions to be imposed on Turkey, both at the national level and within the EU framework.

* International law and international agreements such as the Chemical Weapons Convention are of great importance for people all over the world and must be defended so that they do not lose their importance and value.

* It is unacceptable for the federal government, for whatever reason, to support a regime that so blatantly violates all norms of international law and has been doing so for decades.

*The German government should use its position as Turkey's most important economic partner and a NATO partner to put pressure on the Turkish regime and, if necessary, force it to the negotiating table with sanctions.”
