NEWS CENTER - MSD Executive Committee Chair Ilham Ehmed met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. 

 

The head of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council,the SDC, Ilham Ahmed, discussed with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Special Envoy of the Russian President Mikhail Bogdanov, the Syrian settlement.

 

A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry following the meeting today, Tuesday, reported by RT network, said that "the situation in Syria was discussed, with a focus on the situation in the north-east of the country. Special attention was given to activating the political settlement in Syria on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2254, rehabilitation of its economy and social sphere, the return of refugees and displaced persons, and providing humanitarian aid to those in need.

 The statement added that "the Russian side affirmed its readiness to continue efforts to help the Syrians reach agreements in various formats in order to restore the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria in full as soon as possible, and secure the legitimate rights of all ethnic and religious groups in the country."

 

According to RT, the Russian President's Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, held consultations with Ilham Ahmed.
