HABER MERKEZİ - Nasır who participated in the hunger strike back in 2018 against the isolation in İmralı for 187 days said: "The greatest resistance in history is in İmralı" and called on the youth to unite around that historic resistance.

 

Nasır Yağız who participated in the hunger strike initiated by Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Leyla Güven against the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, ended the hunger strike on day 187. Stating that the isolation on Öcalan is getting deeper by the day and the youth has a great role and responsibility to fight against the isolation, Yağız said the continued isolation must end immediately.

 

'IT WAS A CONSCIENTIOUS DECISION'

 

Stating that he was called by Turkish intelligence officers who tried to force him to spy on his people after the hunger strike, Yağız said he was threatened with death when he refused. Underlining that the hunger strike in 2018 was historic, Yağız said: "The barbaric isolation imposed on Öcalan created an outrage among Kurds, especially among those who are also imprisoned. Mr. Öcalan is our red line. I went on a hunger strike because I don't accept this barbaric treatment. That atmosphere was sort of a mirror a person's soul reflected from. It created a conscientious questioning state of ming for me."

 

İRAMLI RESISTANCE

 

Noting that breaking the isolation is only possible through resistance, Yağız said: "The Kurds must stand up with a spirit of uprising. Isolation as a method is targeting all Kurds in the person of Mr. Öcalan. The greatest resistance in the human history is in İmralı right now. Mr. Öcalan is resisting the İmralı torture system for 23 years now. Turkish state imposes this isolation to break that spirit of resistance. Everyone knows the mission of Mr. Öcalan. That is the reason why the international bodies ignores what's happening in İmralı. They want the people to forget about the existance of that prison and who is in there. And this is also why everyone who believes in democracy and human rights must embrace the resistance in İmralı."

 

'ÖCALAN IS THE WILL OF THE DEMAND FOR PEACE'

 

Stating that the isolation on Öcalan affected not only the Middle East but also the international arena, Yağız said: "The October 9 conspiracy imposed on Öcalan and the struggle for freedom brought 3rd World War with itself. Mr. Öcalan is the will of the demand for peace. The democratic nation paradigm created by him is the only guide for salvation for human kind. He represents the wisdom of peace and the universal values of humanity. The captivity of Mr. Öcalan is the basic reason of this war. His freedom will bring peace."

 

'THE YOUTH MUST ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY'

 

Stating that the youth must assume its historic responsibility, Yağız said: "The fascist mentality that brought Turkey to the brink of collapse wants to keep the youth from their real revolutionary duties with corruption. It systematically tries all kinds of moral corruption that instills hopelessness on the youth. Thus, it destroys the hope of the youth for the future. At this point, the youth need to stand up and unite around Mr. Öcalan. An organized and conscious youth who takes to the streets will shatter all the traps of fascism and will overthrow the isolation regime in Imrali. There is an active revolutionary struggle in which the youth can feed itself from. The youth must assume its responsibility and do its duty with determination."
