Rangers forced to take part in Turkey's attacks against Kurds says they are depressed

NEWS CENTER - The village rangers who were deployed to Metîna said that they could not make any progress in the areas where the attacks continue and that their psychology is getting worse day by day.

The attacks launched by Turkey, in partnership with the KDP, on the Zap, Metina and Avaşîn regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region on April 17, continue with intense clashes at many points. It was stated that the soldiers and special forces affiliated with the KDP, who tried to enter the areas by land while the areas are bombarded by warplanes, had to withdraw after the clashes. The soldiers who fail to advance, are sending rangers to these areas. The village rangers among the families of Hazım Babat in Şırnak's Uludere district and Tahir Adıyaman's in Beytüşşebap are among the most prominent ones in the region.

RANGERS ARE BEING USED

The village rangsers, who were deployed to the border line with the pressure of Tahir Adıyaman, a member of the Jîrkî tribe, told what happened in the region. The village ranger stated that the areas where they were sent to, were bombed dozens of times with warplanes, and that the rangers were then sent  to the same area. The ranger told that they had to retreat after the HPG fighters responded.

Another village ranger who participated in the attacks said that despite all the technological superiority, they could not make any progress.

SAME PLACE BOMBED 20 TIMES

Another village ranger, a member of the Jîrkî tribe, who was sent to the border line, stated that they were constantly sent to the Metîna region. The ranger said, “The same place was hit 20 times by warplanes. Everyone said that whoever was there was most definately dead. Then they said that we should walk. However, less than half an hour after the bombing, the guerrillas came back fighting as if nothing had happened. We have participated in many operations as village rangers before, but this is the first time we have witnessed such a war tactic and harsh resistance. The new war tactics actually surprised us, no one expected it. HPG members came so close to us, like 5-10 meters, and we couldn't see that they have infiltrated.

'SOLDIERS DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIGHT HAND TO HAND

Stating that the soldiers could fight hand to hand, the village ranger said: “As the soldiers cannot fight hand to hand, mountainous areas are randomly bombed for hours with planes, drones and helicopters. Soldiers have settled on several bombed hills, however; attacks are frequently carried out by guerrillas at those points, and it is not possible to determine where these attacks were made. It was pure hell and I don't want to fall into that hell again."

The ranger added that he would not participate in the operation again due to the difficulties he experienced.
