HAKKARİ - Citizens living in the Kûtos hamlet of Marînus village, where an embargo was imposed due to the ongoing operations in Kato, were driven out of the village and forced to displacement due to state pressure.
While Turkey's attack on Zap, Avaşin and Metina in the Federated Kurdistan Region with the support of the KDP continues, a military operation was launched in Hakkari's Kato Mountain in April. After the clashes between the HPG members and soldiers around Marînus village in Kato region on April 22, an embargo was imposed on the village, and all young people were driven out of the village. Due to the closure of all entrances and exits of the village, the citizens living in Kûtos had to evacuate the village due to the pressure of the soldiers and the embargo.
THE VILLAGE WAS EMPTIED
On the 18th day of the embargo, the people living in Kûtos took their sheep to the highlands of other villages. It was stated that the villagers, who could not find shelter here, had completely evacuated the village two days ago. According to the information received, after the village was emptied, it was stated that the bridges where the villagers passed their sheep were burned down by the soldiers. It was noted that camera traps were placed at many points, especially on the most dominant hills of the village.
VILLAGERS WERE FORCED TO SPY ON THEIR PEOPLE
In addition to the prohibition of entry and exit to the village for 18 days, a checkpoint was also set up by the soldiers on another road from Qewal (Kaval) village to Marînus village. Soldiers told the villagers in Qewal that if they cooperate with soldiers, they would help them. It was also stated that the villagers who did not accept this, were forced out of the village while those who accepted remains in the village.
