NEWS CENTER - Targeting Shengal, Prime Minister of the Federated Kurdistan Region, Mesrour Barzani said, "The Iraqi government must fulfill its responsibility in this regard."

Prime Minister of the Federated Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani once again targeted Shengal, which the Iraqi army launched attacks with the support of the KDP and Turkey on April 18. Making a statement after the Cabinet Meeting in Hewler, Barzani demanded that Iraq 'fulfill its responsibilities' regarding Shengal through the "Shengal Agreement".

Barzani said: “There were conflicts and problems between the groups that imposed themselves there and the Iraqi security forces. Aside from withdrawing, they reinforced more forces from Syria and stood up to each other. At the same time, we saw that thousands of Shengalese headed to the Kurdistan Region and had to migrate due to the unhealthy security conditions there. For this reason, we emphasize that the Shengal Agreement should be implemented, and the Iraqi government must fulfill its responsibility in this regard so that those who migrated to the Kurdistan Region can freely return to their homes.”
