ŞIRNAK -  Berfo Duva, mother of Sümeyye Ataman, who lost her life in Turkey's attacks on Avaşîn, condemned to the cooperation of the KDP and said, "Barzani sold himself for nickels and dimes."

 

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which cooperated with Turkey in the attacks on the Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region, have become an accomplice in the deaths. Providing intelligence support for the attacks launched by Turkey on April 23, 2021, the KDP took a direct part in the extensive attacks launched on April 17, despite the warnings of the Kurds. Berfo Duva, mother of YJA STAR member Sümeyye Ataman, who died in Turkey's KDP-supported attacks on April 23, 2021, in Avaşin, condemned the cooperation of the KDP and said, "If Barzani did not support Turkey, it wouldn't have been able to enter Bashur." .

 

STATE PRESSURE

 

Berfo Duva (52), who was born in the village of Zokê in Derik district of Mardin, had to migrate with his family to the village of Ganîzilê due to state pressure. Duva, who spent her childhood here, stated that the Turkish state did not give them any peace and continued to pressure them into being rangers and working for the state. Underlining that they were happy in their village, Duva said the Turkish state sttacked their village back in the 90's and told them they should either become rangers and work for the state or leave the village for good. The family who had to migrate because they did not accept being rangers and working against their people, told that the houses of the people who refused being rangers were burned to the ground.

 

SHE WAS FORCED INTO MARRIAGE

 

Forced into marriage by her family at the age of 20, Duva said: "They made that decision on my behalf and I had no right to say anything. They married me to a man who was already married. Life got harder after that and the state pressure continued." Pointing out that people are still forced into being rangers in their village, Duva said: " They must lay down their guns if there is a shred of humanity in them. How can a person kill their own brothers and sisters? They are making the Kurds kill Kurds. We should not betray each other."

 

THE BODY OF HER DAUGHTER WAS NOT RELEASED TO HER

 

Stating that her daughter jpined the PKK 6 years ago because of the state pressure, Duva said: "My daughter was very smart and hard working. He had good relations with her friends. She loved her country and people so much. She was involved in the party work. When I told her she was too young and she could not handle the burden of the party, she used to ask me how her other friends could handle it. She joined the PKK 6 years ago because of the state pressure. She was very brave. She always had a smile on her face. One night she sat down to dinner with us and went out. We never heard from her again. She made up her mind. She lost her life in the clashes in Avaşîn in her sixth year. I learned about her death from the TV. They haven't released her body to me yet."

 

'BARZANİ BETRAYED HIS PEOPLE'

 

Referring to the attacks carried out with the cooperation of the KDP in Avaşîn, Zap and Metîna, Duva said: "I condemn the attacks on Bashur. We condemn Barzani who betrayed his people. Turkey would not be able to enter Bashur if Barzani didn't support Turkey. We will never forget and forgive this betrayel. All Kurds helped him when he was in trouble. He sold himself for nickels and dimes."

 

'ERDOĞAN LOST'

 

Duva said: "While Erdoğan had to find a solution to this crisis, he is buying new tanks and cannons and bomb Bashur with those weapons. They want to exterminate us. But we will resist against war. And this resistance will never end. We want peace, freedom and equality. Erdoğan should withdraw from Bashur. What is he doing there? All Kurds must standup against these attacks. We don't want our children to die anymore. All mothers should raise their voices against this war."
