Muslim: The attack is a war against the Kurdish people, not against Rojava

URFA - PYD Co-Presidency Council Member Salih Müslim, drawing attention to the statement of AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan about a "new attack" against Northern and Eastern Syria, stated that the attack on Rojava is Turkey's war against the Kurdish people, and said, "If there is an attack, the people will resist."

Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-Presidency Council Member Salih Müslim spoke to Mesopotamia Agency (MA) about the attacks on Federated Kurdistan Region and the new attack to be launched against Northern and Eastern Syria by Turkey.

Stating that Turkey's attacks on the region have continued for a long time, Muslim noted that threats had been made before. Stating that the political conjuncture is against Turkey, Muslim said, “Because the AKP is stuck in domestic politics, it wants to take a breather by attacking the Kurds. There is now a coalition of war and fascism in power. The more they deepen the war, the longer they think they will survive. We have to defend ourselves against all kinds of attacks. We take their threats seriously, we have no choice but to resist. We have to take precautions against any possible attacks. We do not want it to happen, but when they do, we will defend ourselves." Pointing out that the aforementioned attempts of attack may be aimed at postponing the general elections to be held in 2023, Muslim said, “If there is chaos, it will be possible to postpone the election. AKP wants to continue its existence by deepening the war. They may also be preparing the infrastructure for this. In all cases, we need to take these statements seriously and take our precautions."

GUARANTOR STATES

Stating that there is no change in the positions of the guarantor states in the region, Muslim said, “All the forces in the region state that they do not want such an attack. Everyone is aware that this attack will help strengthen ISIS. The guarantor states say that a possible attack will serve terrorism. Turkey violates human rights in the places it controls and brings about demographic change. To date, no country has taken any initiative towards Turkey. All the human rights violations Turkey has committed are ignored.”

TURKEY SHOULD BE EXPELLED FROM NATO

Mentioning Turkey's policy regarding Sweden and Finland's joining NATO, Muslim said, “Turkey is opportunistic when it comes to Finland and Sweden. These are Ottoman games. This is a blackmail policy. They have always done this until now. The blackmails that Turkey has done so far have met with impunity so far. Turkey threatens everyone, it is the center of instability in the Middle East. Turkey is the main center of terrorism and it does this under the umbrella of NATO. It draws strength from NATO in all its attacks. Now he's blackmailing again. NATO should say enough is enough and expell Turkey from NATO."

'TURKEY IS TRADING TERRORISTS'

Recalling the statement by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), that Turkey has formed a "black belt from terrorists" from the southern countryside of Afrin to the western rural areas of Manbij and Kobanê to use in possible attacks, Muslim said, "Gangs are being trained in the areas occupied by Turkey. Gangs are trained in those areas, they have camps. This has been known for a long time. These forces are made to fight in other countries. Turkey has become the headquarters of terrorists. Turkey trading terrorists. It takes them, trains them, and then sends them to other countries. It uses them for its own interests. If there is an attack right now, he will use them. ISIS leaders Abu Bakr Al-Bexdadi and Abu Ibrahim Al-Qureyshi were killed in the areas under Turkish invasion. The newly elected leader of ISIS may be in an area under Turkish control. Maybe he's in Ankara right now, maybe in Antep."

'TURKEY IS PLAYING THE LAST CARD'

Underlining that the people living in the region will defend their lands against possible attacks, Muslim continued: “The people of the region can see through it. People are political now. If there is an attack, the people will resist. There have been many attacks against the villages, but the people did not leave their villages. The war in Rojava is not only the war of the people of Rojava. This is Turkey's war against the Kurdish people. The Turkish state sees its existence in the absence of the Kurds. The ongoing attacks in the Federated Kurdistan Region and the attacks in Rojava are not independent of each other. The Kurdish people should act with this awareness. There is a huge wave of attacks and this is an indication that they have no choice. Turkey plays its last cards by escalating the war everywhere. Anyone who acts with fascism will lose. It would be better for everyone who has relations with Turkey if they cut off their relations with it.”
