BATMAN - Bedrettin Atmaca, father of Taner Atmaca, who allegedly attempted suicide two days after being arrested, told that the surveillence video was not given to them and demanded those reponsible to be revealed.

It is claimed that Taner Atmaca (25) being held in Batman Type M Closed Prison attempted suicide on July 29. The prison administration called Atmaca's family two days after the incident and told them their son committed suicide. It was learned that Atmaca was sent to Batman Training and Research Hospital for treatment. Bedrettin Atmaca, father of Taner Atmaca who told that his life-threatening condition continues, underlined that his son who is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), is treated in handcuffs.

HIS FAMILY WAS NOT INFORMED

Stating that they went to the police station on July 28, when they could not find their son for two days, father Atmaca said: "The police station told that he was arrested and sent to prison. Four days after his arrest, the prosecutor's office called us and told he attempted suicide. We went to the hospital but they didn't let us see him. We applied to the prosecutor's office to be able to see him."

HE WAS HELD IN HANDCUFSS IN THE ICU!

Stating that he saw his son was being held in handcuffs in the ICU even though he was facing death, Atmaca said: "He was half dead and a gendermerie officer was waiting upon his bed. He was being held in handcuffs. We objected to that. They told us that the law allowed them to do that. I asked them how someone in their deathbed could be held in handcuffs. They removed the handcuffs two days later upon our applications."

SURVEILLENCE VIDEOS WERE SHELVED

Stating that they went to Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and filed a criminal complaint against the prison administration, Atmaca said: "They informed us two days after the incident. Why did they hide this information from us? What were they covering up? They only let us know when his heart stopped. We want those responsible to be revealed. We don't believe he committed suicide. We demanded to be given the surveillence videos in prison but they didn't released the videos to us. This footage could shed a light on my son's situation. It is told that someone came to their ward and then this happened. Who was it? We want those responsible to be held to account."
