ADANA - No progress has been made in the investigation of the murder of Kadri Bağdu, the distributor of Azadiya Welat Newspaper, for 8 years. Newspaper readers demanded that the perpetrators should be found and prosecuted.

Kadri Bağdu, a distributor of the Azadiya Welat Newspaper, which was closed with a Decree-Law, was killed in an armed attack by ISIS members on October 14, 2014 while he was delivering newspapers on his bicycle in Adana's Seyhan district. Eight years have passed since the murder, and no effective investigation has been carried out so far. ISIS member Servet Koç, who confessed to the murder in 2016, was not included in the investigation, although he explained how the murder was committed in his images and correspondence. Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office evaluated the Bağdu murder as "not a terror, but a judicial case" and decided to "permanent search" in the investigation it conducted in this direction.

THE FAMILY'S LEGAL STRUGGLE CONTINUES

Despite all the evidence and witness statements, the Bağdu murder investigation has been shelved, while the family's legal struggle continues. The family, who applied to the Constitutional Court through their lawyers, will apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) if the expected result does not come out.

"BAĞDU'S KILLERS SHOULD BE FOUND AND PROSECUTED"

Stating that he has known Bağdu since 1994 and is a subscriber of the newspaper, Faruk Efetürk, the tradesman, said: "Bağdu did his job with love, and started to distribute newspapers at 05.00 in the morning. Bağdu was murdered on October 14 at 10:00. I did not believe it. Bağdu was killed by dark forces." Stating that he has known Bağdu since 1995, Halit Arslan, one of the tradesmen said: "We want democracy in this country. We want the brotherhood of peoples. We want Kadri Bağdu's killers to be found and prosecuted." Stating that he was both a villager, a friend and a newspaper subscriber of Bağdu, Abdullah Baynar said: "The state does not want to find the perpetrator or perpetrators of Bağdu, everyone knows these perpetrators, and the perpetrators should be found."
