İZMİR – Political parties, associations, trade unions, intellectuals and writers have issued messages of support stated that the detained TTB Central Council Chair Şebnem Korur Fincancı is not alone.

 

Şebnem Korur Fincancı, President of the Central Council of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), who was targeted by AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP President Devlet Bahçeli after her statements about chemical weapons attacks, was detained in Istanbul this morning. Fincancı was taken into custody as part of the "terrorist propaganda" investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The Prosecutor's Office requested the court to terminate Fincancı's duty as the Chairperson of the TTB Central Council and to elect a new president.

 

Support for Fincancı in custody is growing. Political parties, intellectuals and artists made statements of support for Fincancı through their social media accounts.

HDP Women's Council: The detention of TTB Central Council Chair Şebnem Korur Fincancı is the institutionalisation of fascism. The government that ignores law, democracy and human rights for its own survival has come to an end! The government will leave this country with all its dirty politics!”
