VAN - Stating that they were concerned about the health status of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, People in Van pointed out that the problems could be solved by lifting the isolation.

 

There has been no news since March 25, 2021 from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is being held in İmralı Type F High Security Prison. Öcalan's family, lawyer and guardian visits are blocked for various reasons. It was revealed that Öcalan was given a 6-month "lawyer ban" sentence. The local people of Van, to whom we held a microphone about the isolation, pointed out that the isolation is the source of the problems.

 

EFFECTS OF ISOLATION

 

Noting that the isolation in Imrali has spread to all prisons and society, Muhammet Mamuk said: "No one is 'free' due to isolation. The stay of the execution of many prisoners for various reasons is also related to the isolation. There are many problems in Turkey today due to the isolation. The only way to end the isolation policy is for the people to speak out and react. Spring will come to the whole of the Middle East when the isolation is lifted. The isolation should be lifted as soon as possible there is no point in deepening this isolation. We want the isolation on Öcalan to be lifted."

 

'ISOLATION IS APPLIED TO ALL KURDS'

 

Condemning the isolation, Sabri Mamuk said: "This isolation is being implemented against all Kurds. There is no humanitarian aspect to it; therefore, we condemn the isolation. There must be resistance to end the isolation. We must raise our voice against it. When the isolation is lifted, all problems in Turkey will be solved. This war will end. Dozens of people die from this war every day. All of those who die for it are our children. Not only Turkey but also European countries are responsible for this isolation. Just as they have a role in the chemical weapons used today. 

 

Stating that they do not accept the Imrali isolation, Nadir Sabay said: "It is the demand of all Kurds to end the isolation. If this isolation is lifted, there will be peace, no one will die. We want peace now. We want the isolation to be lifted for all peoples. If the isolation is not lifted, there will be no good life."

 

EMPHASIS ON THE STRUGGLE

 

Stating that the isolation has spread to the whole society, Nedim Şapal said: "We call on the AKP-MHP government; we do not accept this isolation. The entire society must fight for the end of the isolation. The isolation begins in Imrali and spreads to the whole society. We believe that if talks with Öcalan begin, the problems will begin to disappear and peace will be achieved. If the isolation continues, the war will continue to increase. Everyone who is in favor of peace and life should raise their voices for peace against war and isolation."  

 

Noting that the isolation causes "war and deaths", Ceyhun Yadigar said: "The end of the isolation will also be the end of the war."

 

Stating that there has been no news from Öcalan for a long time, Kazım Sağlam said: "The Kurds are curious about Öcalan's health. As the isolation deepens, there are problems in the society. That's why family and lawyer visits need to start."

 

'THE ISOLATION ON ÖCALAN MUST BE ENDED'

 

Stating that the isolation brought problems and war to the peoples, Mustafa Sağlam said: "We will continue to raise our voices for end to the isolation. We want this isolation to end. We want justice, peace, a solution to be developed and deaths to come to an end. This war must be stopped. The isolation on Öcalan must be ended."
