ADANA - Cumali Yıldırım, being held in Afyon No. 1 Type T Closed Prison, stated that the guards are constantly provoke the prisoners, and called for those in the Parliament to come and check the CCTV of the prison.

 

Practices including oppression, violations of rights and torture against prisoners in prisons are always on the agenda. Cumali Yıldırım, who is being held in Afyon No. 1 Type T Closed Prison, spoke about the violations of rights they were subjected to in a weekly phone call with his family. Yıldırım said that prisoners were imposed to stand up during count and that the guards were constantly trying to provoke them.

 

Yıldırım stated the following during the meeting: “If any injury or death occurs here, these officers are responsible. Public opinion should be formed for us, the guards are provoking us. Today, we wrote a petition to the Ministry of Justice with our friends. They wanted to force them out in the cold weather, so we shouted 'we will defeat the torture of human dignity'. Yesterday, our wards were raided and our belongings were stormed under the name of search. Those in the parliament say 'there is no torture in prison', so they should come and check the CCTV's in the prison."
