NEWS CENTER - Stating that the statement of the KCK and the call of the PUK Leader Bafil Talabani are important, KNK Co-Chair Ahmet Karamus said: "The Turkish state has always used the humanitarian attitudes of the Kurds. The Turkish state has no vision other than war, genocide and occupation."

 

After the earthquakes on February 6, the epicenter of which was Maraş, the HPG took a decision of inaction upon the call of the KCK. However, despite the decision of inaction, the TAF continued its attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria and Medya Defense Areas. Among the earthquake agenda, while the Erbil Symposium was being held in the Federated Kurdistan Region, Kurdistan Patriotic Union (PUK) Chairperson Bafil Talabani made a call to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for national unity and said: "Let's make peace between the PKK and Turkey. If Mam Celal could do it, why shouldn't we? Let's bring peace in the region. Let's carry the Kurdistan flag instead of the parties' flag. We can do all this together.”

 

Evaluating the KCK's stance, Turkey's attacks and Talabani's call, Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Co-chairperson Ahmet Karamus said: "We will take action to strengthen this initiative."

 

'ATTACKS CONTINUE DESPITE THE DEATH OF THOUSANDS'

 

Noting that the decision taken by the KCK due to the earthquake was a humanitarian, moral and conscientious decision, Karamus said: "We had absolutely no doubt that the KCK and HPG would stop their military activities. It was a timely decision. This decision resonated well at the national level; however, the Turkish state continued its war and attacks until the end during this earthquake because the existence of the Turkish state is based on massacres and genocides. It refuses to accept any other option but to kill. This was not the first. Whenever there are such situations, it considers it as an opportunity and makes such decisions. Turkish state wants to distract the public in this way and direct them to different things. This earthquake was an exceptional disaster in the world, but despite this, Turkey continued and continues its attacks."

 

'HUMAN ATTITUDE OF THE KURDS IS ABUSED'

 

Noting that Turkey took advantage of the Ukraine and Russia war, Karamus said: Turkey carried out attacks against Northern and Eastern Syria and Medya Defense Areas. Mr. Cemil Bayık gave a message for the second time. He even said in one of his messages: 'If the opportunity is given and the ways of dialogue are opened, we can make this ceasefire permanent.';however, Turkey does not understand such messages. It exploits the humanitarian attitude of the Kurds every time. Against this, the silence and inaction of international states is evident.

 

'WE WILL ACT'

 

Emphasizing the importance of the call of PUK Chairperson Bafil Talabani, Karamus continued: “This call was made on time and on the spot. I think this is a sign for national unity. They know the crisis situation in Bashur Kurdistan. They know that they are in a serious crisis in political, economic and social terms. Both political parties need to resolve this issue through dialogue. Again, the crisis in the Iranian state has expanded even more. This also offered great opportunities to those who wanted peace. This crisis environment that the government is in is a great opportunity for those who want change. Again, Rojava is under the same attacks. Turkey attacks every day. Rojava has reached such a level that people from different blocs are visiting it. This call is our strategic work. It is our main duty to bring this to life. The Kurdish and Kurdistan forces must have the initiative and act in this direction. Such calls should be taken seriously. We will take this call on our agenda. We will grow stronger and take action to give strength to this initiative. We need to seize this opportunity and be able to get results from it.”
