ŞIRNAK - 90-year-old father and 75-year-old mother are watching the path of their child, Nesimi Kalkan, who has been in prison for 30 years.

Nesimi Kalkan, who was detained in Cizîr (Cizre) district of Şirnex(Şırnak) in 1992, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the State Security Court (DGM). Kalkan, who has been in prison for 30 years, remained in prisons in the cities of Bursa, Edirne, Tarsus, Silifke, Tekirdağ, Dîlok(Gazi Antep), Amed(Diyarbakır), Şirnex(Şırnak), Merdîn(Mardin) and Erzirom(Erzurum). Finally, Kalkan, who was transferred to Tarsus Type T Closed Prison, is expected to be released after 3 months.

Kalkan's mother Fatim (75), who has COPD, and his father, Hasan Kalkan (90), who has heart disease, have been watching the path of their children for 30 years. The Kalkan family stated that their only demand is to see their children outside before they die, and expressed their concerns about the execution of their children, like other prisoners.

THEY HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 30 YEARS

Stating that he had not seen his son for 15 years, Kalkan's father, Hasan Kalkan said: "My only wish is to see my son before I die. My son has been imprisoned underground for 30 years. He has celiac disease and cannot eat every meal. Now I want him to get out of prison and be freed as soon as possible. I want him to return home like everyone else. I went to see him twice. I'm ill and therefore I can't go to visit him. The road is too long. Right now, my only wish is for my son to be released as soon as possible. I miss my son very much. Every day I pray: 'God grant me to think of my son before he dies'. When my son was arrested she was very young. Her child had just been born. That daughter also grew up, got married and had a child, but my son is still in prison. Is this a conscientious thing? The remaining 3 months do not pass. I have not been devastated in 30 years as much as I was devastated in these 3 months."

'THERE IS NO JUSTICE'

Expressing that there is no justice, Kalkan said: "I am worried that my son's execution will be delayed like dozens of prisoners. There are many ill prisoners like my son in prison. We want all the prisoners to be released. I fear that my son's execution, like other prisoners, will be delayed. I hope it will be released as soon as possible."

THERE IS NO PRISON KALKAN GOES TO

Stating that she has been visiting city-by-city prisons since her son was arrested, Mother Fatim Kalkan said: “During this time, my illnesses started, too. I have aged from my son's grief. My hair went grey. After my son, I couldn't even breathe anymore and I got many diseases. My life has changed a lot after my son. I do not believe in justice. If they don't delay his execution, he will be released in three months. Our eyes are on the road and we are looking forward to him.
