ISTANBUL – EHB member lawyer Gülhan Kaya, who has been detained for two days, has been arrested on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization"

 

Lawyers Gülhan Kaya and Mustafa Taylan Savra, members of the Law Office of the Oppressed (EHB), were detained as a result of the raid on their home on June 10. Gülhan Kaya, one of the lawyers whose files were subject to confidentiality and restriction orders, was brought to the Istanbul Courthouse to take a statement from the prosecutor's office.

 

Kaya, whose statement was taken at the prosecutor's office after a two-day detention period, was referred to the court with a request for detention on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization". Kaya was arrested by the 9th Criminal Judgeship of Peace on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization".

 

ÖHD: WE DO NOT ACCEPT ATTACKS

 

After the decision, ÖHD shared the following message on his Twitter account: “Our member lawyer Gülhan Kaya was arrested. We do not accept the attacks of the government to criminalize our practice and professional activities. We will continue to defend rights and freedoms despite all the difficulties and pressures.”

 

EHB: THE DEFENSE IS NOT SILENT, IT WILL NOT BE SILENT!

 

The Law Office of the Oppressed (EHB) also shared the following message on its Twitter account: “Our colleague and friend Lawyer Gülhan Kaya has been arrested. Fascism will lose, we will win! Revolutionary lawyers are our honor! The defense has not been silenced, it will not be silenced!"
