ISTANBUL - The Saturday Mothers, whose demonstrations were prevented despite the violation decision of the Constitutional Court, were detained.

The protest of the Saturday Mothers to inquire about the fate of their relatives disappeared in custody and demand the perpetrators be tried, continued in Galatasaray Square in its 953th week. Insistent on Galatasaray Square, where the police blockade has continued for 13 weeks following the Constitutional Court's (AYM) "violation" decision, the Saturday Mothers and rights defenders continue their protest despite all the pressure. Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) deputies Ceylan Akça and Kezban Konukçu, Human Rights Association (İHD) Co-Chair Eren Keskin and Saturday Mothers attended the action.

DEMONSTRATIONS WERE BESIEGED BY THE POLICE

Many streets where the mothers appeared before the demonstrations were besieged by the police and detention vehicles. Despite all the obstacles of the police, the mass gathered on Meşrutiyet Street and Istiklal Square marched towards the square with carnations in their hands.

IHD Co-Chair Eren Keskin, who condemned the police blockade and blockade of the crowd after the march, said: "We want to make a statement using our constitutional right, we will not do anything violent. Against this, the police said that they would not allow an explanation, citing the prohibited decision of the Beyoğlu District Governor's Office."

MORE THAN 20 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED

Despite the insistence of the crowd, the police forcibly removed the journalists from the area and handcuffed more than 20 people, including the Saturday Mothers and rights defenders, who were besieged and detained.

JOURNALISTS ARE BLOCKED AGAIN

After the mothers were detained, Green Left Party deputies Ceylan Çapa and Kezban Konukçu were blockaded by the police. Çapa and Konukçu protested the blockade. After a short while, the MPs who came out of the police blockade marched on Istiklal Street. Journalists who wanted to follow the march were blocked by the police.
