ISTANBUL - DEM Party organized a "Freedom and Democracy" rally in Esenyurt with the participation of tens of thousands of people.

 

People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Istanbul Provincial Organization organized a rally in Esenyurt to support the "Great Freedom March", which was initiated with the demands of ensuring the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the solution of the Kurdish issue. Thousands of people came together for the "Freedom and Democracy" rally. The slogans "Bijî berxwedana zindanan (Long live resistance of the dungeons)", "Jin Jîyan Azadî (Woman Life Freedom)" and "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)" frequently chanted.

 

At the rally, first the mothers who continued the Justice Watch protest and the politicians and representatives of non-governmental organizations who took part in the "Great Freedom March" took the stage. Then, DEM Party Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality candidates Meral Danış Beştaş and Murat Çepni greeted the crowd. 

 

REACTION TO CPT

 

Emine Kaya from TUHAD-FED, who took part in the Wan branch of the "Great Freedom March", touched upon CPT's visit to Turkey. Kaya said: "As you know, CPT came to Turkey but did not visit Imralı. We ask the CPT, which claims to take into account the demands of the people; will you fullfill the demands of these people? The demand of the people is to ensure the physical freedom of Mr. Ocalan. There needs to be a return from this mistake. That's why the CPT needs to play its role."

 

After the speeches, Mesopotamia Cultural Center (NÇM) artist Arhat took the stage. The rally ended with dances.
