ANKARA - Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus called the Şenyaşar family, who started a demonstration in Parliament demanding justice, claiming that the demonstration would damage the reputation of Parliament.
Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed and one son was arrested in an attack carried out by the bodyguards and relatives of former AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in Pirsûs district of Riha (Urfa) on June 14, 2018, started the Justice Watch protest again. Mother Şenyaşar carried the Justice Watch protest from Riha to the Ministry of Justice and from there to the Parliament Presidency.
KURTULMUŞ CALLED ŞENYAŞAR
The mother Şenyaşar held a banner saying, “Justice for the Şenyaşar family, justice for everyone”. Shortly after the protest, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş called DEM Party MP Ferit Şenyaşar by phone. Kurtulmuş asked the Şenyaşars to end their demonstration in the Parliament. Kurtulmuş argued that the slaughter was not within the Parliament's sphere of interest and was a matter for the judiciary, and that the Parliament's reputation would be damaged if the demonstration continued. In the phone call, Kurtulmuş reminded the law that paved the way for animal slaughter and the attacks in the Parliament and argued that the reputation of the Parliament was already damaged and would be further damaged with this action. For these reasons, he asked for the action to be terminated.
PROMISE TO TAKE INITIATIVE FOR TALKS
In the phone call, DEM Party deputy Ferit Şenyaşar told Kurtulmuş that the massacre concerned everyone and requested a meeting with AKP Chair and President Tayyip Erdoğan. Kurtulmuş promised to personally take the initiative for this meeting. Kurtulmuş also sent his personal staff to Şenyaşar's room to get information about the massacre and the process.
After the protest, mother Şenyaşar went to Ferit Şenyaşar's room in the Parliament.
