WAN - Calling for the World Peace Day rally to be held in Wan, politicians said: “In order to talk about peace, the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan must end and he must be given his physical freedom.”

In Wan, a rally will be organized by political parties and institutions with the slogan “Let's shout peace against war and occupation, freedom against isolation” on World Peace Day. Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-Chair of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), is expected to attend the rally to be held at Musa Anter Peace Park on Sunday, September 1 at 17:00 pm.

DEM Party and DBP politicians called for participation in the rally.

'ISOLATION IS THE PRIMARY AGENDA'

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Assembly (PM) member Uğur Bayrak stated that they are fighting for an honorable peace. Bayrak said that they will speak out loudly about the isolation at the rally and added: “First of all, the main agenda of this country is the aggravated isolation of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. Therefore, as long as the isolation is not lifted and Mr. Öcalan does not meet with his family and lawyers, it is not possible to talk about any peace.”

Stating that peace cannot be built with the current system, Bayrak said: “In order to talk about peace, first of all, the isolation against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan must end and he must regain his physical freedom. On one side is an honorable, resilient Kurdish people and on the other side is a fascist barbaric system. For these two sides to talk peace, the isolation of Mr. Öcalan must end. On September 1, we will shout out this demand with thousands at the rally we will hold in Musa Anter Peace Park.”

CALL FOR THE STRUGGLE FOR PEACE

Gülşen Kurt, DEM Party Wan Provincial Co-Chair Gülşen Kurt pointed out that there has been a policy of war and denial against the Kurdish people for years and underlined that the problem must be solved in a peaceful and democratic environment. Kurt said that everyone should struggle for peace in these lands.

'WAR POLICY IS THE CAUSE OF THE CRISIS'

Underlining that peace cannot be built with the existing system, Kurt continued as follows: “The biggest cause of the policies, poverty, violence, migration, female genocide, agricultural crisis, work murders and unemployment in the country today is the war policies. In order for these crises to end, these war policies and mentality must be abandoned as soon as possible. We have to bring peace to this country in a democratic way as soon as possible.”

Kurt finally called on all those in favor of peace to attend the rally.
