Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Cûrnê Reş (Hilvan) District Organisation held its extraordinary congress at the party building. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial and district executives, members of the Peace Mothers Assembly, Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) activists, Cûrnê Reş co-mayors, Xelfetî co-mayor and one of the PKK's leading cadres Ali Çiçek's sister Ayşe Çiçek and many party members attended the congress. 

 

The congress started with a minute of silence and banners reading "Democracy, not trusteeship" and "We started young, we will finish young". 

 

'STRUGGLE MUST BE INCREASE'

 

Xelfetî Co-mayor Mehmet Karayılan, who was replaced by a trustee stated that Cûrnê Reş has a historical importance in the Kurdish Freedom struggle and said: "We are going through a serious and chaotic process. We are close to freedom. In this process, it is imperative that we increase our work and our struggle."

 

'OUR AIM IS TO SERVE THE PEOPLE'

 

Cûrnê Reş Municipality Co-mayor Garip Paydaş, stated that they came to the municipality administration with a delay of two months. 

 

They faced many obstacles during their 6-month administration process said Paydaş and added: "We have carried out all works that have not been done in 10 years. We continue to work against all obstacles. Let alone the villages, even in the district centre, a stabiliesd system has not been established. We have continued and will continue to provide services to our people."

 

'CONVEYED THE GREETINGS OF ABDULLAH ÖCALAN'

 

DEM Party Riha (Urfa) MP Ömer Öcalan drew attention to the ongoing war in the Middle East and said: "We will conduct a politics with Mr. Öcalan's paradigm. This city is the hometown of Mr. Öcalan. As you know, we had a meeting with Mr. Öcalan in October. He said wherever you go send my greetings to our people. I convey his greetings once again. The war in the Middle East is deepening every minute."

 

Reminding the words of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Öcalan continued as follows: "Mr Öcalan said;  If conditions are right, I will bring this issue to a solution by making the war lawful. For this reason, we call on our people to increase the struggle. We are also analysing the Turkish media. They are trying to make a psychological war effective. Blood politics is being played in the Middle East. In this process, the Kurds must be recognised. You see that Kurdish gains are coveted with the ISIS mentality. Kurds represent peace and democracy. The Turkish media is distorting the truth by fabricating lies. Our people need to be vigilant against this and design politics accordingly. Kurds defend the rights of their own people, the Turkish people, the Arab people, the Assyrian and Armenian people. Therefore, we need to follow our own political party and our own movement. Our issue, our claim and our idea are big. The struggle against the politics carried out to finish us, the Kurds, needs to be increased. Urfa needs to play its role and mission for the Middle East and Rojava. We need to enlarge our alliance and follow a pioneering policy."

 

After the speeches, DEM Party Cûrnê Reş new district co-chairs Başak Sarıdal and Mehmet Paç were elected.
