ISTANBUL - Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's messages are important, "A democratic Turkey will be instrumental in starting a process in which more work and more production will be done," says writer Ender Imrek.
PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is being held in isolation in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) MPs held a meeting on 28 December. After the meeting, Abdullah Öcalan's message, which was concretised in 7 articles, is being discussed in the public opinion. In Abdullah Öcalan's messages, the call for all political circles in Turkey to take initiative, act constructively and make a positive contribution without getting caught up in narrow and short-term interests came to the fore.
Journalist and writer Ender İmrek evaluated the reflections of the policies regarding the unsolved Kurdish issue on workers and labourers and Abdullah Öcalan's messages reflected in the public opinion.
Underlining the importance of Abdullah Öcalan's messages, İmrek pointed out that there are discussions on the new "process" but the government has not yet declared a programme. Reminding that some steps should be taken, such as the release of ill prisoners, İmrek stated that everyone should take strong action for peace and solution.
Addressing the labourers' front, İmrek stated that war and conflict processes dragged workers and labourers into misery. "The rulers carry out an intensive propaganda activity in order to tie the workers and labourers to power on the issues of war and violence. Workers are condemned to misery and unemployment," he said.
Stating that the most exploited and impoverished in the country are the religious, pious, nationalists and those who act with a sense of belonging, İmrek stated that the "poverty" situation is used by the government and said, "The war issue is a material used to blind the workers and labourers,"
Stating that the struggle of the Kurds is a "counter front" formed together with the struggle of the oppressed, the poor, the workers and labourers, "In Turkey, the issue of the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue also raises the bread cause of the workers and labourers against the war, nationalist, racist, chauvinist approach," said Imrek and added, "Essentially, we need to strongly shape the front of the labourers, the oppressed, the Kurdish, Turkish, Arab, Laz, Circassian, the oppressed working class as a whole."
'PEACE MEANS MORE WORK, LABOUR AND PRODUCTION'
Stating that there are conditions to raise the struggle for peace more than ever, İmrek said, "The end of the war and conflicts, the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue will first of all eliminate the sowing of seeds of discord."
Imrek added: "It is essential for all the peoples of Turkey that this situation, in which trillions of liras have been spent on the Kurdish issue for 40 years, tens of thousands of people have lost their lives and great suffering has come to an end. Therefore, the end of war and violence is a matter of work for workers and labourers. A democratic Turkey will also be instrumental in initiating a process where more work, more love and more production is carried out."
