ŞIRNEX - The attacks of Turkey and its affiliated SNA against the Tishreen Dam protested in Şirnex. DEM Party MP Zeki İrmez called for a stop to the attacks.
Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Şirnex (Şırnak) Provincial Organization protested the attacks of Turkey and the Syrian National Army (SNA) against Tishreen Dam in North and East Syria. The statement made in front of the party building was attended by many representatives of political parties and organizations.
DEM Party MP Zeki Irmez stated that the attacks were directed against the democratic nation building and said, "13 years ago the Kurdish people defended their lands with the third way and fought for freedom with great will. Against a gang like ISIS, the Kurdish people and the peoples in Rojava resisted and defeated. The Kurdish people were recognised in the world with their resistance and struggle. However, the AKP and its gangs did not reduce their attacks on Syria. The administration in Rojava had no threat to Turkey, but continued its attacks uninterruptedly."
Drawing attention to the increasing attacks recently, İrmez said that as long as the Kurdish issue is not solved on a democratic ground, the pressures will continue. Irmez said, "We know that these attacks are especially against the Kurdish people and the system established there. However, they will not succeed. It will be the peoples who established that system that will win. The AKP and MHP government must stop these attacks and pave the way for a peace process. It is the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue that will save Turkey."
The statement ended with the slogan "Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live resistance of Rojava)".
