NEWS CENTER - Journalist Egid Roj, who was murdered in the Turkish attack on Tishreen Dam, was commemorated at his grave.
Turkey and the Syrian National Army's (SNA) attacks on North and East Syria continue. On 8 December 2024, many people, including journalists, politicians and artists, were massacred in the attacks launched against the Tishreen Dam. 40 days ago, journalist Egid Roj, who was murdered in the attack against the Tishreen Dam, was commemorated at his grave in Heseke. The commemoration was held at the "Martyr Dijwar Martyrdom" in Heseke on the 40th day of Egid Roj's murder.
Free Press Association (YRA) Co-chair Dilyar Ciziri said, "Great sacrifices were made in the march for freedom. Some of them became the voice of truth for their people. During the Rojava revolution, 31 journalists were martyred. The last martyr of the Free Press is the martyr Egîd Roj, who witnessed the historic resistance in Afrin and was always the voice of the resistance of the people of the region. The resistance of the people and journalists of North and East Syria continues. We salute the resistance of journalists who follow the path of martyr Egid Roj."
Siyamend Eli, responsible for the YPG Press Center, said, "Egid took his place in the revoluton at a young age. He had such a spirit that he managed to find a place in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was always on the side of our fighters, pursued the truth and conveyed it to the public."
At the ceremony, Egid Roj's family said that they will remain committed to the cause of their child until the end.
