MERSİN - Cuma Çat, who was held in Diyarbakır Prison during the 12 September military coup, died in Mersin City Hospital where he was being treated.
Cuma Çat, 82, took an active role in the 1978-79 Hilvan Resistance and was arrested after the 12 September Military Coup and tortured in Diyarbakır Military Prison No. 5. Cuma Çat died in Mersin City Hospital where he had been receiving treatment for a long time.
Mesopotamia Culture Center (MKM) member Kadir Çat announced the death of Cuma Çat on the virtual media with the post "We lost my fater Cuma Çat who resisted against all kinds of tortures in the dungeons of Amed (Diyarbakır) against the Hilvan resistance and the fascist coup of 12 September!"
Çat's funeral will be buried in Karaduvar Cemetery at noon.
