DİYARBAKIR- Mehmet Emin Aktar, former chairman of the Diyarbakır Bar Association said that after 3 years of investigation in Tahir Elçi file had no more doubts as to whether he had been shot by the police, and so does the prosecutor, said: "We know who killed Elçi and so does the prosecutor."
Despite 3 years passed after Tahir Elçi was shot in front of all the cameras while he was making a press statement about the Four-Strand Minaret which was damaged during the clashes on November 28, 2015 in Diyarbakır Sur, his murder was not solved.

Speaking to the Mezopotamya Agency (MA), former President of Diyarbakır Bar Association, Mehmet Emin Aktar, evaluated the legal and political aspects of the lack of progress in the investigation file in the third year of Elçi's murder.

Aktar underlined that the conflict period in Sur may have triggered a larger plan involving assasination of a public figure, and added "We don't know for sure whether Tahir was targetted specifically, or he was just collateral damage; we have heard rumours from time to time that there was a possibility"

Aktar stating that there are enough evidence in the file for a conviction, said: "There are no doubts about the fact that Tahir Elçi was shot by the police. There is no other evidence indicating any other possibility. First you have to determine who fired. The numbers of the people carrying a gun is evident."
