ANKARA-HDP Co-Chairperson Pervin Buldan, along with 9 deputies in the party, began a hunger strike against the isolation of Öcalan. Buldan said they brought the hunger strike to the parliament because this is where we must talk about segreggation.

 

10 Parliamentarians have started a hunger strike to support Leyla Güven who has been in hunger strike for 27 days protesting the segregation of PKK Leader Öcalan. The hunger strike will last for 2 days.

 

Before starting the hunger strike Buldan said: 

"We would like to support the action of Leyla Güven for the removal of aggravated isolation on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. This is not just Leyla Güven's problem, this problem belongs to Turkey and Turkey must take it to their agenda.Mr. Öcalan is under aggravated isolation for 3 years.This hunger stike must be supported.The abolition of solitary confinement, is essential for democracy in Turkey.This resistance will continue in various places."

 

Buldan also shared the information that non of the Justice Department officials have met with them.

 

DTK Co-chair and Ağrı Parliamentarian Berdan Öztürk, Mithat Sancar, Dilan Dirayet Taşdemir, Kemal Bülbül, Şevin Coşkun, Serpil Kemalbay, Habip Eksik and Erdal Aydemir will be in hunger strike for the next 2 days.
