İSTANBUL- The women who made a call for attandence to the meeting held by İstanbul March 8 Women's Platform in Bakırköy marketplace, said: "Let's be the voice of the hunger strikes initiated by Leyla Güven'.

 

İstanbul March 8 women's platform is preparing for the meeting in Bakırköy Marketplace to be held with the slogans 'To resistance for our freedom, We are out on the streets against slump, violance and war'. The women who distributes leaflets in scope of the work for the meeting, said they will meet in front of Marmara Forum Mall at 12.00 and start marching to the meeting area.

 

 

Platform member Şenay Kumuz, who reminded that they celebrated 8 March in Bakırköy Freedom Square last year, said they did not allow for them to be in that area this year. Şenay who underlined that women are being deprived of their safe places day by day, said: "The streets and squares we are conveying our demands are now closed to us. We will not give these places up. We will keep resisting for our right to life. The main dynamic of March 8 is struggle. We will not give up that struggle. We will be out there on March 8 to raise our voices."

 

People's Democratic Congress (HDK) Women's Assembly Member Nihal Taş who emphasized the importance of March 8, said they will be out on the streets to raise their voices against violance and harrassment. Taş who stated that they will be the voice of the hunger strikes initiated by DTK CO-chair Leyla Güven, said:" We will raise our struggle for the isolation to be terminated and for women to be more active in life. We will struggle for the termination of the isolation in home, in the streets."
